Chapter 11; Video/Filtered Video to Karkat
[[The feed flicks on to a view of four Pokemon. The first three are likely familiar to anyone who knows their trainer.
An all-too-cool Wooper, who currently seems rather put out and a little scratched up.
A primping and preening Pidgey, who seems quite proud of itself.
And a rather irritated looking Eevee, ruffled somewhat and glaring in the aforementioned Wooper's direction.
The fourth Pokemon, sitting quietly and watching the three with interest, is a Mareep.
From off camera comes the voice to confirm that yes, this is indeed Rose's team.]]
I am pleased to say we are finally making progress in level. Surprisingly, Dave has been putting forth a great deal of effort into his training. I am unsure as to why, but not complaining.
Woop!
That was a compliment. You should accept it as such.
Pilcrow, the Pidgey you see before you, has also gained a few levels of her own. Guillemot has earned the most, however. I am highly proud of her. I also have a new addition, of whom I have just caught. Halos the Mareep. He is quite the energetic one, and I am sure he will make an excellent addition to my team.
[[And now you get a view of the girl, who looks like she's recovering from a cold.]]
I have doubts of challenging the gym here before we leave, but I suppose that is not my duty as a breeder anyway, is it?
[[For everyone else, the feed ends here. However, Karkat gets one soon after.]]
[Filtered to Karkat]
...Karkat. Would I be able to ask a favor of you? It concerns living arrangements, as I have been unable to work for the past week due to both my illness and the incident with Dave, and therefor can no longer afford room and board.
Of course I intend to find work as soon as possible, but until then I have no where to stay...

Action;
But Slick--he was the Jack Noir of our session, but don't call him that or he'll probably want to stab you. Then again he might anyway; he's a stabby kind of guy. But anyway, I met him on my planet during Sgrub, and he's sort of like a mentor to me. I helped him exile the Black Queen, too. Dave called him my stabdad, since he stabbed me a few times before. He's cool, though.
Action;
And...I am unsure if I would like to meet him or not now. I don't believe I would enjoy being stabbed. Though I am also intrigued to see whom you would call a mentor.
Action;
You should be alright if it's just over Pokégear.
Action;
And this is true. Perhaps I could meet him sometime with you then. This Droog fellow also sounds as someone of interest.
[[A thoughtful pause here as she frowns somewhat.]]
...I can't help but feel these names are familiar.
Action;
But that... Actually, no. Because he's a total jackass to me and I don't want you of all people around for one of our stupid arguments, or him mocking me like he always does.
Droog, though, he's cool. More level-headed than Slick - they're moirails, basically. Just don't joke about fashion with him; I got the feeling he'd hurt me if I didn't get that tie I did for that one suit.
Dave mentioned something about some bullshit comic involving them on Earth, but fuck if I know what that's about. Because, obviously, they're real, and if anything it sounds like some weird reflection back into your culture from the fact that we made your damn universe.
Action;
Spades Slick, Diamonds Droog, Clubs Deuce. Why had I not made that connection before?
[[Slight face palming here.]]
Then again, I suppose he only spoke of it fleetingly with me.
And if you are sure, I won't prod. I suppose I will find time to meet him on my own then.
As for Droog, I would never mock fashion. As much as I am not one to bring harm to another over it, I can most certainly appreciate fine taste when it is presented to me.
Action;
Fashion is stupid, though. The only reason I even bothered was because that event was supposedly going to be formal or whatever and I wanted to look nice.
Action;
And fashion has it's merits. I am not crazy for it, but I also am not opposed to indulging in it from time to time, depending upon the occasion.
Action;
Oh my fucking god. That annoying little dipshit? Seriously?
I guess it has more value in your culture. But to trolls - most trolls, anyway - it's stupid. I basically owned nothing but the same outfit, and that's more or less what I wear here, or as close as I can get.
You might like Kanaya, though. She's into fashion. And she's a flighty broad, too.
... If she ever shows up here again, anyway.
[And at that, he frowns some.]
Action;
I would like to meet Kanaya if she returns. I would like to meet all of your comrades, but if you say Kanaya is a flighty broad, my interest is piqued.
Action;
[Bit of a sigh.]
She's a weird one. I mean, she's my friend, and probably one of the saner ones out of anyone, but still. I've said before trolls are nocturnal, but she slept at night, and was the only one of us that could really stand the sun on Alternia - let alone the only one who liked it. She was into rainbow drinker novels, too.
Action;
[[Movies? What movies. This is ~moirail time~ now, obviously.]]
Action;
Action;
[[She tilts her head.]]
Why do you call them 'rainbow' drinkers?
Action;
Trolls have different blood colors. Ergo they drink a rainbow of blood.
Action;
[[Obvious interest is obvious, and not simply because of the fact that different colored blood is interesting on it's own. You are obviously hiding something.]]
Do you happen to know why? Such as what causes the tint of one's blood to differ from another? I know for humans, our blood turns red when exposed to oxygen, however within our body it's blue.
[[In example, she holds out her wrist palm up, pointing to the veins showing through her skin.]]
Action;
[He doesn't even bother looking at her wrist.]
Action;
Why does this subject bother you so much?
Action;
It doesn't fucking bother me!
Action;
[[Despite what she's saying, her tone's soft.]]
Action;
Fine. It fucking bothers me. You gonna prod at me about what my blood color was? Because I'm not fucking telling you. It's no one's business and I don't see why everyone else goes spreading it around like it's some big fucking deal, even with the damn caste system.
Action;
Karkat, I assure you I am more interested in why it bothers you than the color and placing on any caste it may have. If you have not gathered by now, I care very little for any form of system which leads to how you are judged being based on something you cannot change. Blood color would fall under that.
Action;
I just--
[He curls up, knees drawing up to his chest and face burying in his hands.]
Action;
It is completely stupid. One's worth should never be based on the color of their blood, something of which they cannot change. Especially if they are extremely low in the system, and yet have such an abundance of redeeming qualities which would and should add to that worth.
[[Sure, she is making an assumption in suggesting the lower class, however she doubts he's so upset because he's at the top.]]
Action;
[He swallows, opens his mouth--swallows again, presses his lips together.]
[Grabbing for her shoulder, he tugs her closer, him leaning in to whisper under his breath.]
I'm--god this is so fucking hard.
I.
I'm.
O-outside the whole system. B-below the bottom.
I'm--
A fucking mutant-blooded piece of shit.
