tentacletrainer: (This is an enjoyable experience)

Chapter 33; Accidental Video

[[Today, when the gear turns on, you get a lovely view of the sky and the calming sounds of water nearby. It's a beautiful day, for those of you not outside.

This serene setting is broken by a squeal from a Pokemon and a splash, then all falls quiet and calm again.

It's a few minutes before you hear something again. This something being another splash. And then on screen appears a Dratini with a quite pathetically wiggling Magikarp in it's mouth.

With a happy chirp it disappears off camera again, only to return a few moments later to rub all over the 'gear. And then off it goes. There's a squeal, a splash, and a few minutes later the familiar sight of this Dratini with another Magikarp, struggling in it's grasp. It disappears, it reappears to smother the Pokegear, rinse, wash, repeat.

This show goes on for some time, until finally - during one of its rubbing sessions - it stops and looks up. And then it simply begins to trill in excitement. Almost like if it doesn't make noise, it'll explode. It's also wiggling.

There is so much wiggling from this Dratini.]]

...V-vodka...what are you doing?

[[It seems this Dratini is none other than Vodka Derptini - also lovingly known as John - belonging to resident Rose Lalonde. And said trainer has found the little dragon Pokemon.

She appears momentarily on screen, picking up the 'gear, before turning to look at...oh.

It seems all those Magikarp the little wiggling dragon type had been collecting are in quite the pile of flopping. Meanwhile, the aforementioned culprit of this karp congregation is sitting next to said heap, wiggling as if waiting for praise.

Apparently those fish are a gift for his trainer.]]

...That's...very nice of you, John. Thank you very much. How sweet.

[[A few pats to the Dratini's head, followed by a multitude of elated chirps, lilts, warbles and purls, and the 'gear is shut off.]]

Charmander doesn't look so bad, kind of cute actually. [ And changing? Wow. She hadn't left to adventure yet - to even start training - but she wondered what it would be like. Ampharos kind of helped on that a bit ]

Wow. You can see the colour resemblance but it's definitely less sheepy.

[identity profile] usedtherapy.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
They can be quite cute. They can be real jerks as well though. I've met both. [[The Ampharos just kind of shyly hides.]]

Indeed. I'm actually quite unsure what he is now. He obviously isn't a sheep, but having evolved from one it would be odd for him to be anything else.

I'll remember to watch out for that.

Maybe comparing them to animals complicates it? It sounds simple at first until you can't think of any. What's he like? My Mareep's been really friendly.

[identity profile] usedtherapy.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
That could be, though the interesting thing is that the Pokedex compares them to animals as well sometimes.

And Halos is...very shy. Very awkward as well. Though very adept during battle.
walkinthruwalls: (shadow of moments)

[personal profile] walkinthruwalls 2011-08-14 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose that's true. Oh, hey. [ Kitty's now fishing her Pokedex out to get a better (and quicker) overview of Ampharos. And in the background you can hear: 'Ampharos, the Light Pokemon. The bright light on its tail can be seen far away. It has been treasured since ancient times as a beacon.' ] I suppose if you ever lose your torch you have a back up? [ ... so lame ]

Wow. Maybe battling is where it finds its confidence?

[identity profile] usedtherapy.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[[It's okay. She's used to such jokes. To the point she finds them funny, so you earn yourself a giggle.]]

Indeed, that's true. And perhaps yes. I would not doubt that.
walkinthruwalls: (shadow all doubts)

[personal profile] walkinthruwalls 2011-08-14 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you have other Pokemon, too?

[identity profile] usedtherapy.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I do. Quite a few in fact. Though of course not all on me.
walkinthruwalls: (shadowed expressions)

[personal profile] walkinthruwalls 2011-08-14 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Which do you have?

[identity profile] usedtherapy.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh goodness, that's quite the list. Well to start.

[[She moves the camera to show the Pokemon she currently has.]]

You've already met Vodka Derptini my Dratini, and Halos my Ampharos. This - [[The camera is pointed to a little purple cat like creature, lazily curled up nearby.]] - is Guillemet, an Espeon.

The owl in the tree up there is Tick, a Noctowl. This cat Pokemon by my bag is Nartac, a Glameow. And the Pokemon curled up beside him is not only the evolution of Glameow, but Nartac's father, CG. He's a Purugly.

[[The camera's then pointed back to her.]]

Stored in the PC is a Glaceon, Leafeon, Skitty, Luxio, Grotle, Quagsire, Pidgeot, Ditto, Roselia, Lunatone, Buneary and Remoraid.

[personal profile] walkinthruwalls 2011-08-14 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, that's quite the list! I can definitely see why people - and the pokedex - liken them to animals, especially Tick and your cat-type ones.

How long have you been travelling?

[identity profile] usedtherapy.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed. There are lizards and fish, salamanders and dogs. Dragons, horses...all sorts. And...I believe about eight months now.
walkinthruwalls: (shadow with feeling)

[personal profile] walkinthruwalls 2011-08-14 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
And birds. Someone showed me a Hoothoot earlier, too. [ And a click ] Hey, wait. Noctowl is an owl and so is Hoothoot. Is that part of their evolution, like Mareep and Ampharaos?

And... wow. I can't imagine being here that long. Remind me I said that in eight months.

[identity profile] usedtherapy.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed. Pidgeot is another bird Pokemon as well, the full evolution of Pidgey. You will likely find quite a few of them in the beginning. ALong with Hoothoots. And yes, Noctowl is the only evolution to Hoothoot. And I will be sure to do so.
walkinthruwalls: (shadowing the knowledge)

[personal profile] walkinthruwalls 2011-08-14 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Hopefully Pidgeys are nicer than pigeons. [ ... what? ] I'll definitely keep a look out for them both.

[identity profile] usedtherapy.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I take it you have a few poor experiences with pigeons? And some can be quite terrible, but Pilcrow was quite the sweet Pidgey.
walkinthruwalls: (shadow with feeling)

[personal profile] walkinthruwalls 2011-08-15 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
Some of them like to swoop low and nearly hit you when they fly. Pilcrow? That's such a sweet name, too.

[identity profile] usedtherapy.livejournal.com 2011-08-16 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
How obnoxious. I can certainly understand where the hope that they're better behaved would come from then. And thank you very much. I'm sure she would delight in hearing you enjoy it.
walkinthruwalls: (shadows of care)

[personal profile] walkinthruwalls 2011-08-16 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't really think that they mean to do it but it still happens... a lot.

Do your other Pokemon have names?

[identity profile] usedtherapy.livejournal.com 2011-08-16 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Intentional or not, still rather unpleasant. And they do indeed. Every Pokemon I have and obtain receives a name.
walkinthruwalls: (shadows of thought)

[personal profile] walkinthruwalls 2011-08-16 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That's definitely true.

What do you have?

[identity profile] usedtherapy.livejournal.com 2011-08-16 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[[Chuckling, she tilts her head as she goes through the list.]]

Guillemet the Espeon, Halos the Ampharos, CG the Purugly, Nartac the Glameow, Vodka Derptini the Dratini, Haze the Glaceon, Cocoa the Leafeon, Martini the Skitty, Thaelo the Grotle, Bablor the Ditto, Tick the Noctowl, Loke the Luxio, Pilcrow von Plumage the Pidgeot, Luna the Lunatone, Mia the Buneary, Tha'gthuasi the Roselia and Fluthlu the Remoraid.
walkinthruwalls: (Default)

[personal profile] walkinthruwalls 2011-08-16 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. How do you manage to come up with all the names?

[identity profile] usedtherapy.livejournal.com 2011-08-16 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
It helps that I dabble in writing, I'm sure, but mostly whatever seems to fit them. Some names are based on that of names of the gods inhabiting the Furthest Ring. Fluthlu being a direct reference to one such horrorterror, but names such as Bablor or Halos merely meant to mimic the sounds. Meanwhile others, such as Pilcrow or Guillemet, are based on common punctuation symbols.
walkinthruwalls: (shadowy thought)

[personal profile] walkinthruwalls 2011-08-16 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, I've never actually heard of any of those before.
