Chapter 33; Accidental Video

[[Today, when the gear turns on, you get a lovely view of the sky and the calming sounds of water nearby. It's a beautiful day, for those of you not outside.

This serene setting is broken by a squeal from a Pokemon and a splash, then all falls quiet and calm again.

It's a few minutes before you hear something again. This something being another splash. And then on screen appears a Dratini with a quite pathetically wiggling Magikarp in it's mouth.

With a happy chirp it disappears off camera again, only to return a few moments later to rub all over the 'gear. And then off it goes. There's a squeal, a splash, and a few minutes later the familiar sight of this Dratini with another Magikarp, struggling in it's grasp. It disappears, it reappears to smother the Pokegear, rinse, wash, repeat.

This show goes on for some time, until finally - during one of its rubbing sessions - it stops and looks up. And then it simply begins to trill in excitement. Almost like if it doesn't make noise, it'll explode. It's also wiggling.

There is so much wiggling from this Dratini.]]

...V-vodka...what are you doing?

[[It seems this Dratini is none other than Vodka Derptini - also lovingly known as John - belonging to resident Rose Lalonde. And said trainer has found the little dragon Pokemon.

She appears momentarily on screen, picking up the 'gear, before turning to look at...oh.

It seems all those Magikarp the little wiggling dragon type had been collecting are in quite the pile of flopping. Meanwhile, the aforementioned culprit of this karp congregation is sitting next to said heap, wiggling as if waiting for praise.

Apparently those fish are a gift for his trainer.]]

...That's...very nice of you, John. Thank you very much. How sweet.

[[A few pats to the Dratini's head, followed by a multitude of elated chirps, lilts, warbles and purls, and the 'gear is shut off.]]

It helps that I dabble in writing, I'm sure, but mostly whatever seems to fit them. Some names are based on that of names of the gods inhabiting the Furthest Ring. Fluthlu being a direct reference to one such horrorterror, but names such as Bablor or Halos merely meant to mimic the sounds. Meanwhile others, such as Pilcrow or Guillemet, are based on common punctuation symbols.

Wow, I've never actually heard of any of those before.

Mmm...perhaps it is something unique to my world then. However surely pilcrow and guillemet are universal. Here...

[[Switching to text momentarily!]]

[[Back to video!]]

I suppose they do not have to be universal, but I would figure punctuation would, seeing as how everyone uses it. ...or well, mostly everyone.

Oh, we have those, I've just never actually known the names of them. I guess you can learn more than Pokemon here.

[identity profile] usedtherapy.livejournal.com 2011-08-16 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed you can. With as much variation in the worlds people here come from, there is an endless amount of knowledge to be gained.

And talking to lots of people will make sure that travelling isn't boring or lonely.

It's quite nice to have so many people available to speak with. I would also suggest, if you have not already, finding companions to travel with as well.

I figured that travelling might get lonely if you're on your own, but how do you know who to travel with?

Bah, excuse my horrendously late response. Notifs died on me. :c

[identity profile] usedtherapy.livejournal.com 2011-08-22 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Usually whomever you find yourself comfortable with. Or, if you're lucky, those of your friends from home if they happened to have been taken as well. Hopefully someone capable.
walkinthruwalls: (and around [ you have a day ])

Tis cool :D

[personal profile] walkinthruwalls 2011-08-22 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't have anyone from home, at least none that I know of.

Maybe I'll see if I cn find anyone.

<3!

I wouldn't fret too much on it if you can't, but traveling in a pair or group is rather nice.

I might ask around when I get to Cherrygrove City - or at least before I leave, just in case.

[identity profile] usedtherapy.livejournal.com 2011-08-22 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Very good plan. And speaking of Cherrygrove, be sure to ask about a map of the forest leading to Violet. It can be quite confusing and easy to lose oneself in.
