Chapter 10; Action/Voice for Karkat, John and Jade

[What happened]

[[She certainly didn't mind his company, as much as she bickered with him when he insisted upon taking care of her, and insisted upon making sure she was comfortable, and insisted upon getting her more blankets, knowing she would want them. As much as she argued she didn't need the help, she did appreciate it.

And so, even though the subject struck up yet more sibling snark-ery, she appreciated him offering to make her soup.

Still had a hard time expressing it though.]]

Dave, I do not care how delicious you claim it tastes. I do not care how insistent you are upon the fact it is good for me. I do not want soup.

[[He just laughed at her, and that simply annoyed her more.]]

Relax Rosie. You're not getting any better by throwing a fit.

[[Looking away with a snort, the girl glowered at the window. When a spoon clattered from being dropped, she thought nothing of it.]]

Would you please refrain from making a mess, I would really hate to--

[[Cut off by the sound of something far bigger slamming into the stove finally forced her to turn her glare towards the kitchen.

Which Dave was currently occupying the floor of.]]

...D-Dave?

[[Unfurling and scrambling from her nest, she quickly crossed the hotel room and stared down at the boy a moment, before bending down to carefully touch his forehead - which judging from how red the skin was and how it was already starting to bruise, that must have been what she heard colliding with the stove.

Carefully she shook him by his shoulders.]]

If you are trying to tease me to force some form of sincere affection from me, th-there are better ways to go about that. This is unacceptable, and I will not stand for it, so I request you sit up and cease this tom-foolery.

...Please?

[Voice for Karkat]

[[When Karkat answers, he is greeted by Rose, who definitely does not sound as put-together as usual. She's not in a panic, but her voice is shaking a little.]]

K-karkat. I require your presence immediately. Dave just collapsed, and I am unsure of what to do about i-it. I am unable to move him on my own, and am fairly certain we should not leave him on my kitchen floor.

[Text for John and Jade]

[[A text is also sent to John and Jade, as Rose is aware they would both want to know.]]

John, Jade, I would like to inform you that Dave, currently, is passed out on my kitchen floor.
I am having Karkat come over to help, and fear having more than him and I might make this complicated as it is a fairly small kitchen and room, so please do not worry about assisting.
I simply felt you would both like to know.

This will work well with what I'd originally planned then. With the way this works out, there will be two awake at all times.

Karkat, you and I will start the night shift off. Halfway through, I will head to bed, and John will join you. Halfway through John's shift Jade, you will trade off with Karkat, allowing him time to sleep. And then you, John, will trade off with me.

Does this make sense? Or should I perhaps make a chart?

[Now Karkat is full on glaring at the Buneary. But don't worry, Rose; he's listening.]

Half the night with you, then half with John, then I sleep when Jade gets up. Makes sense enough to me.

[Full-on smiles in return, Karkat! You will be her newest friend, she has already decided it. ~~Does this bunny remind you of anyone?~~]

Sounds good to me.

Got it!

[[Blink.]]

...I am glad it is so easily understandable.

Next order of business is where everyone will sleep.

[Eyebrow twitch.] I just hope I don't end up strangling John during our shared half-shift.

[A sigh.]

I'll take the chair. I've got the strongest Pokémon among you, like I said, and if Bro comes trying to bust in during the day, the jolt will wake me enough to get them out.

[Eyeroll. He should have expected that. Why didn't he expect a comment like that?] Thanks man, I'm looking forward to sharing a shift with you too.

I guess I'll sleep out here on the floor then.

[Though he's honestly not too excited about the prospect.]

I'm fine with sleeping on the floor...

That sounds fine with me Karkat, John.

[[Now looking pointedly at Jade.]]

You, however, I would prefer sleeping in my room. You are free to use my bed.

Don't fucking eyeroll at me, John.

[Karkat sinks into the arm chair, then, just sitting there for the time being.]

Any other bullshit we need to decide, or is that everything?

[Ignoring you Karkat! He's not in the mood for another argument with you!]

Not that I can think of.

I can't think of anything, either.

Neither can I.

Feel free to help yourself with whatever is in the kitchen. I am no cook, so do not expect me to actually make something.

[[She, meanwhile, is heading towards her bedroom.]]

[Karkat points to John and Jade. Probably a good idea John chose not to keep arguing.]

If you two are taking the earlier shifts, you better get to sleep, then. Me, I'm going to need coffee.

[And so he gets back up from the chair, heading into the kitchen area to get a start on that.]

Well...good night then I guess. Jade, Rose.

[He drags his stuff over towards the opposite side of the room, setting out his sleeping bag under the window and crawling inside it. Casey scurried across the room to join him, burrowing into the sleeping bag and curling up next to him looking utterly delighted. John chuckled and scratched her head.]

Good night to you too!

[Sitting up, he takes off his glasses and safely stores them in one of the pockets of his bag before settling back into the sleeping bag and closing his eyes. Man it was going to be tough to fall asleep tonight.]

That sounds like a good idea! Good night, guys!

[Rose said she'd prefer if Jade slept in her room, so that's where Jade is heading! If Rose is in there and the door's closed, she'll knock first.]

[[Even for her bedroom door, she only opens it a crack to peer out to see who it is. Though it is quickly opened further to allow Jade in, and then closed behind her.]]

I was just in the middle of making the bed for you.

Oh! Thank you.

Of course. Is there anything you think you will need tonight? Of course you are free to change in the bathroom, or once I've left for the living room again, but will you need anything to help you sleep?

[[And now she's just laying out a sleeping bag beside the bed, tossing a pillow at the head of it.]]

Um... There's nothing I can think of!

Well if it turns out you do, please do not hesitate to ask.

[[And, grabbing her own pajamas, she slips out the door, pausing to give her a wave.]]

Good night Jade.

[And as Rose returns, Karkat, himself heading into the living room area, holds up a cup of freshly poured coffee.]

Need any? You've got a shorter shift than me tonight, but it's still half of it.

Actually, I would appreciate a cup quite a bit, thank you. Though I am able to fetch myself a cup once I am done changing if you'd prefer.

[[Just ducking into the bathroom to do that now.]]

[Karkat shrugs.] Suit yourself.

[So he goes and sits back in the chair, sipping from the cup as he does.]

[[And soon she returns, shuffling into the kitchen to make herself a cup, before finding a spot on the floor by the couch to sit.]]

...Are you fairing alright, Karkat?

[[It's very tentatively asked, but asked none the less, as she glances at him from over her cup.]]
