Chapter 48; Video; Possession is fun kids!

[[When the feed starts, there is a very tearful looking Rose on the screen. She looks like she's just about ready to start bawling, hiccuping once in a while. For a moment she just stares, and then she explains what's wrong.]]

Someone. Someone help. I...I'm...I'm really scared.

[[Suddenly the video shifts, showing the edge of a bed and then kiiiind of leaning over the edge to show the floor.]]

I-I think something is under my bed. And if I get down it'll get me!

[[And there are a few sobs, though they're off camera. She is just so scared.]]

Wh-what if it's the boogeyman?! O-or a zombie or something?!

[[And the more things she suggest, the more hysterical she becomes until finally she's wailing, the gear dropping to the bed and being turned off as a result.

If you're feeling like this is not the Rose you know, you're pretty close. She's still Rose, she's simply been possessed by a Yamask.

Okay just...calm down, alright? I'll be there in a few minutes and see what's up, okay?

[Oh shit, there's the inn. Run John, run! Move those stubby little legs like you've never moved them before!]

[[She's going to be eaten alive!!!!]]

Because I am almost there. It'll be okay, I promise.

[No you aren't, Rose. Calm your tits.]

[tentacletrainer]

[[She is completely convinced that it won't be. Nothing you do or say will make her believe otherwise mister. you just don't understand.]]

[ghostytrainer]

[He's upstairs in a matter of minutes, jamming the key into their shared hotel room and throwing the door open.]

Rose?

[Closing the door behind him, he jogs to the bedroom and doesn't even bother to knock on the door before opening it.]

Sweetheart?

[[John, your friend is curled up in the corner of the bed as far away from the middle of the room as possible, crying into a pillow.]]

[ghostytrainer]

[This is probably the closest John will ever come to flash-stepping. And even then...it's really not flash-stepping at all but the attempt was made at least. He sits down on the bed next to her, resting a hand on her shoulder and trying to coax her face out of the pillow.]

What happened, Rose? Come on...talk to me here.

[tentacletrainer]

[[All she does is point to the edge of the bed. Something is under there, she told you already!!!!

Not that John will find whatever it was if he were to look. Seems whatever the creature is, it has moved on to greener pastures somewhere.]]

[ghostytrainer]

What? Under the bed?

[He slides off the bed and onto the floor, peering under the bed. Oooo...terrifying floor down here.]

There's nothing under here, Rose.

[tentacletrainer]

[[She hiccups a little, peering over the edge of her pillow.]]

I-it has to be there.

[ghostytrainer]

Well it must have left or something then, because I promise you there is nothing but a few dust bunnies under here now.

[He gives her a reassuring smile. Would he lie to you, Rose?]

[tentacletrainer]

[[Sniffling, she gets up and kind of lays on the edge of the bed so she can peer underneath it.]]

...there are no bunearies under here.

[[Can you hear that pout in her voice?]]

[ghostytrainer]

...I never said there were Bunearies. I said dust bunnies. You know, these.

[He pulls one of the balls of little dust/hair/gross under the bed stuff and holds it up to show her.] I mean I guess I could try and make it look like a Buneary if that will make you turn that frown upside down.

[tentacletrainer]

That's okay. I have a Buneary! [[Now that it's safe, she gets up and off the bed, skittering over to her bag. She seems kind of confused by all the stuff that's in it, but pulls out her five Pokeballs. And then she opens one up with a "ta-daaaa!"

...which kind of dies a little when not a Buneary comes out, but a Noctowl.]]

...where's Mr. Snuffles? I don't have a Noctowl...

[ghostytrainer]

Mr...Snuffles?

[Okay, things are even more not right now than they were earlier. John knows for a fact that Rose has a Lopunny, not a Buneary, and that HER name is Mia.]

Rose, your Buneary evolved ages ago. Her name is Mia. Are you sure you're okay? Did you hit your head or something?

[tentacletrainer]

Nu-uh!!! He's a Buneary because I gave him an Everstone! And his name is Mr. Snuffles. [[And she's just kind of noticing something else.]]

Why does everyone keep calling me Rose?

[ghostytrainer]

Becaaause that's your name?

[Really starting to think you hit your head here, Rose. Pretty damn hard too.]

[tentacletrainer]

No it's not. [[Stare.]] I'm Joshua. [[Where the hell have you been mister?]]

[ghostytrainer]

Um...no it's definitely Rose. I think I would know. Why would your name be Joshua? You're a girl.

[tentacletrainer]

I'm a boy! [[WOW CAN'T YOU TELL.]] My name isn't Rose and you obviously wouldn't know if you can't even see that I'm a boy.

[Then he pushes himself to his feet and offers Rose a hand.]

Here, come with me for a minute.

[tentacletrainer]

Why? Where are we going? [[Though she takes his hand in hers and is obviously willing to follow.]]

[ghostytrainer]

Just to the bathroom, there's something you need to see.

[John leads her across the hotel room and, just as he said, into the bathroom. He clicks the light on and gestures for Rose to head in.]

[tentacletrainer]

[[O...kay. She follows, entering when gestured to and turning to look at him.]]

I know how to use the potty. You don't need to teach me. [[She's getting really good at it too!]]
