tentacletrainer | Chapter 33; Accidental Video

[[Today, when the gear turns on, you get a lovely view of the sky and the calming sounds of water nearby. It's a beautiful day, for those of you not outside.

This serene setting is broken by a squeal from a Pokemon and a splash, then all falls quiet and calm again.

It's a few minutes before you hear something again. This something being another splash. And then on screen appears a Dratini with a quite pathetically wiggling Magikarp in it's mouth.

With a happy chirp it disappears off camera again, only to return a few moments later to rub all over the 'gear. And then off it goes. There's a squeal, a splash, and a few minutes later the familiar sight of this Dratini with another Magikarp, struggling in it's grasp. It disappears, it reappears to smother the Pokegear, rinse, wash, repeat.

This show goes on for some time, until finally - during one of its rubbing sessions - it stops and looks up. And then it simply begins to trill in excitement. Almost like if it doesn't make noise, it'll explode. It's also wiggling.

There is so much wiggling from this Dratini.]]

...V-vodka...what are you doing?

[[It seems this Dratini is none other than Vodka Derptini - also lovingly known as John - belonging to resident Rose Lalonde. And said trainer has found the little dragon Pokemon.

She appears momentarily on screen, picking up the 'gear, before turning to look at...oh.

It seems all those Magikarp the little wiggling dragon type had been collecting are in quite the pile of flopping. Meanwhile, the aforementioned culprit of this karp congregation is sitting next to said heap, wiggling as if waiting for praise.

Apparently those fish are a gift for his trainer.]]

...That's...very nice of you, John. Thank you very much. How sweet.

[[A few pats to the Dratini's head, followed by a multitude of elated chirps, lilts, warbles and purls, and the 'gear is shut off.]]

[Does this mean there are fish in Cherrygrove?]}

[[There are. You could fish if you want, but it might be a little hard.]]

Alright. There should be a building with a blue roof in Cherrygrove. That is the Pokemart. They carry all sorts of food, including meat and fish for you to purchase and eat.

_{[... Oh.]

[His face falls and he lets out a disappointed grunt. Apparently he's already tried the mart.]

[They don't take too kindly to someone just walking in and trying to eat raw fish straight out of the ice.]}

[[Well, that is stealing...

But unfortunately, she cannot understand what's wrong.]]

Is something the matter? Fish likely shouldn't be too terribly expensive, and if you are still in Cherrygrove you should...still have quite a few pokedollars to your name.

[[Unless you are that reckless of a spender...]]

_{[N-no, more like he just threw his money all over the place before getting to Cherrygrove because he was upset that it wasn't food.]

[How was he supposed to know that shiny gold things were important? 8(]}

[[...she's starting to see a bit of a conundrum in trying to assist him.]]

_{[That gets a fairly straightforward reply, at least. He shakes his head back and forth, letting out a dejected-sounding sigh.]}

...Have you tried learning? Or has anyone offered to teach you?

_{[A pause... and then a slow, rolling shrug.]

[He's been picking up a couple words, but it's slow going. He's never HAD to speak before...]}

Well, I believe it would be in your best interest to learn. Being able to communicate verbally will greatly increase the ease of which you receive help.

[[There's a pause as she considers her next statement.]]

If you wanted I would not mind teaching you.

_{[... Teach him?]

[Toothless pauses, his heavy brows furrowing. It's obvious he's thinking it over. Hiccup had taught him a lot of things... and he has to admit, it's very frustrating, not being able to communicate. In his real body, it's one thing. Hiccup had never seemed to have trouble understanding him when he was a dragon.]

[But this... being in THIS body is like being muzzled and having half the things he used to express himself amputated.]}

Indeed. I wouldn't mind giving you the assistance at all if you'd like. It would certainly be easier for you if you knew at least the very basics.

_{[... WELL SOME OF THOSE WORDS FLEW OVER HIS HEAD but she sounds helpful, so he is ALL FOR THAT.]
