Chapter 33; Accidental Video
[[Today, when the gear turns on, you get a lovely view of the sky and the calming sounds of water nearby. It's a beautiful day, for those of you not outside.
This serene setting is broken by a squeal from a Pokemon and a splash, then all falls quiet and calm again.
It's a few minutes before you hear something again. This something being another splash. And then on screen appears a Dratini with a quite pathetically wiggling Magikarp in it's mouth.

With a happy chirp it disappears off camera again, only to return a few moments later to rub all over the 'gear. And then off it goes. There's a squeal, a splash, and a few minutes later the familiar sight of this Dratini with another Magikarp, struggling in it's grasp. It disappears, it reappears to smother the Pokegear, rinse, wash, repeat.
This show goes on for some time, until finally - during one of its rubbing sessions - it stops and looks up. And then it simply begins to trill in excitement. Almost like if it doesn't make noise, it'll explode. It's also wiggling.
There is so much wiggling from this Dratini.]]
...V-vodka...what are you doing?
[[It seems this Dratini is none other than Vodka Derptini - also lovingly known as John - belonging to resident Rose Lalonde. And said trainer has found the little dragon Pokemon.
She appears momentarily on screen, picking up the 'gear, before turning to look at...oh.
It seems all those Magikarp the little wiggling dragon type had been collecting are in quite the pile of flopping. Meanwhile, the aforementioned culprit of this karp congregation is sitting next to said heap, wiggling as if waiting for praise.
Apparently those fish are a gift for his trainer.]]
...That's...very nice of you, John. Thank you very much. How sweet.
[[A few pats to the Dratini's head, followed by a multitude of elated chirps, lilts, warbles and purls, and the 'gear is shut off.]]

Action;
[ Suzu's tail thumps the ground in assent. As he toddles past Rose, he bends down, his great big Dragonite snout whuffing playfully at her blonde bob. Perfunctory greeting over, he makes his way to the fish and begins to load the floppy cargo up in his arms, Watanuki not far behind. ]
You know, I know humans aren't supposed to eat pokemon, but I've also never actually seen pokemon eat each other...do you think they actually can eat Magikarp?
Action;
[[She also follows, though unfortunately can only take one at a time.]]
That I'm unsure of. None of my Pokemon have ever show interest in eating others, and quite a few of them enjoy meat. I've been curious of that myself.
Action;
[ He would know, since he asked! He manages two frantic Magikarp, one carefully tucked under each arm, and makes his way to the water. ]
Action;
[[Rose can only wrestle one a at a time, but is vigilant as ever.]]
Action;
[ 'Mixed' because, well, they eat so much, if they could do it on their own...he has comtemplated teaching his more able-bodied pokemon to cook before. ]
Action;
Mixed? And I know we are able to fish for edible fish, my traveling group did so on our way between Violet and Azalea. I wonder if I would be able to teach John to fish for those instead of Magikarp...
Action;
As for edible fish... [ He smiles softly. ] You might have more luck asking your pokemon to get them for you than making John-kun do it.
Action;
[[At his last statement, she blinks, then giggles a little.]] Oh no, I mean my Dratini. I apologize for the confusion, but sometimes he reminds me so much of John I call him that, much like I have given Insufferable Prick the epithet "Dave" because he acts so much like my brother.
Action;
Though...isn't 'Insufferable Prick' [ He stumbles a bit over the second word, swearing is kind of alien to him. ] a bit mean for a pokemon?
[ Don't mind Watanuki, he is from a CLAMP canon where names are SRWS BZNS. ]
Action;
[[She tilts her head at the second question, trying to decide how best to respond.]]
I suppose it might be, but when one acts like an insufferable prick, you cannot expect to be named otherwise. As of late though, he's given me so little reason to use that name. I mostly refer to him as Dave.
Oddly enough, he seems almost proud of his original name though. Which is really no surprise, considering who he acts like.
Action;
I suppose you're right. Your brother is...difficult to deal with. [ Translation: egotistical prick. ] Does Dave-the-Quagsire also like his food spicy?
[ Watanuki misses his tabasco sauce reserves, which are receding at an alarming pace. :/ ]
Action;
[[Oh noooo! Perhaps they could go shopping in Goldenrod and find replacements?]]
