Chapter 32; Video/Action for Violet City

[[Today you're greeted with a rare sight. Not only is Rose wet and dressed in a rather cute Dratini themed bikini, but she's outside and wearing a rather smug grin.]]

Dave, I would just like to show you this little gem.

[[And here she holds the Violet City badge up to the camera.]]

I thought I would give you a good week or so to obtain it first, seeing as I was already a badge ahead of you, but this is getting ridiculous. I think I will change my goal of only obtaining useful badges. From here out, I will work towards all of them. We'll make this a competition, how's that sound? A friendly sibling rivalry.

Who can come to possess all eight badges first? Lalonde? Or Strider?

[[Chuckling, she tucks the badge back in her bag, straightening once more.]]

That said, I felt a celebration was in order. And, seeing as it is so warm out, what better way to celebrate than with a little summer party? John, Dave, you are both expected to attend, and I will not take no for an answer. You might want to dress water friendly.

Anyone else in the Violet area is perfectly welcome to come as well.

[[From here, the camera is turned, apparently to show of various attractions as she begins explaining everything.]]

We're equipped with Insufferable Prick, resident sprinkler system. The newest addition to my team, Haze, can offer plenty of cooler temperatures being an Ice Pokemon. Halos is more than willing to fetch you snacks or beverages if you'd like.

And of course your Pokemon are all quite welcome too. The more the merrier, right?

[[With a tiny wave, she shuts the feed off.]]

Mmm in my bag. But do you really need to dry off just yet?

Well I kind of need to at least wipe off my glasses. And...yeah, I would rather not sit here dripping.

Here. [[Taking his glasses, she gently uses a corner of her swim skirt to dry them off. They're a little smeared, but you should be able to see. Placing them back on his face, she chuckles.]]

Sun bathe. You'll dry off.

[He's just...going to resist the urge to say something about the glasses. That really didn't help things and he hates it when they're smeared or dirty but he doesn't want to hurt Rose's feelings. He really appreciates the thought just...slkjfdlsg. He'll just...deal with it and clean them when he gets back to his room.]

Yeah, but...that would mean that I would have to take my shirt off...

[Remember how much trouble you had trying to get him to even pull it up for you after the Shedinja fiasco? Well that was in private. This is in public.]

If you must John, my bag is over by that tree.

[Do you really have to say it like that, Rose? If he must? He can't help it, he just doesn't particularly like being wet. This is why he wasn't exactly excited about the prospect of a summer water party. He glances over towards the tree, catching sight of the bag in question.]

Thanks. Be right back. [He gives her hand another little squeeze before getting to his feet and walking over to the bag. So, what's he going to find in there when he opens it?]

[[He will find a multitude of things. A few evolution stones, a small green knit squiddle and the start of something knitted in a dark red, a few of her journals...seems the towel is under all of this!

Actually, it's under more than just that. There also seems to be a new garment within the bag, judging by the fact the price tag is still attached. If he dare take a peek at what it is, it seems to be a sundress. One in a light blue, with jumpluffs floating along the bottom of the skirt.

Underneath that however is what he's searching for. Eevee print! ...or well, there are a few Eevee print things there.

[Why do girls always carry so much stuff in their bags? Why? Is it really even necessary? How do you even...though the squiddles are quite adorable, he must admit.]

[And...what is this blue thing? Why is it oh my god it's a sundress. Fffff. He gets to see her in this, right? Please let this be something she bought for herself and not for Jade or something. Please say she plans to wear this at some point. Please say-- wait he was looking for a towel, wasn't he? Okay, that's enough being distracted by thoughts of Rose in adorable poképrint sundresses.]

[Okay. Towel. Towel, towel where are you of course you're on the very bottom of the bag, aren't you? Yup. You sure are. Other Eevee print articles at the bottom of the bag? What other articles? John sees only a towel.]

[A towel which he is now going to use to dry his hair! Best place to start right? First his hair and then his...well crap. A towel can't exactly dry a shirt now can it? What in the world was he thinking? Oh, that's right: nothing. John has been thinking exactly nothing for a while now because, haha...girlfriend in a cute bikini. Dammit there goes his mind off on a tangent again. Focus, Egbert, focus. Drying off.]

[As much as he doesn't want to, the shirt's going to have to go. Almost immediately after stripping it off, he drapes the towel over his shoulders. His shirt, meanwhile is laid out on a convenient rock to dry. After a few more moments of drying off his torso, John turns and walks back over towards Rose, the towel still draped around his shoulders and doing an amazing job of covering even more than his shirt did. Arms? John Egbert has no arms now, they are under the towel, holding it closed around him. Once he reaches her, he sits down on her other side, not wanting to sit back on the wet half of the towel. With a whump noise, he flops onto his back once more, still wrapped up.]

Much better!

....and then begins tugging at the towel.

[Wait...she was dryer than that why he left a few minutes ago, wasn't she? He could have sworn...]

[[The most pleasant of smiles.]]

[Rose...why you do this to him? Why?]

[Aaand sitting back up so that he can pull the towel off and hand it to her. And then he's just...going to try and make himself look as small and unnoticeable as possible. Please don't stare at him, Rose. He feels very exposed right now. The fact that you are his girlfriend and he's a little on the pudgy side (Gosh darn baby-fat! Weren't you supposed to go away when John stopped being a baby?) only makes that worse.]

[[John, do you not see the pudge on her? She has baby fat too you know. But she happily accepts it and begins drying her hair. Nice and slow, because she might like to take a few glances every now and then.]]

...you know, you do not have to hide from me John.

[But see the difference is, Rose. You're pretty. John isn't. If he minded the fact that you're not model thin (which he doesn't. Not by any stretch of the imagination. You're perfect just the way you are to him.) the rest of you more than makes up for it. John, on the other hand...]

I'm not hiding! [Crap did he say that too fast? Did that sound defensive? That totally sounded defensive, didn't it?]

You are hiding. And you shouldn't.

[[Stiiiilllll drying her hair.]]

[And shaking his head.]

[After a moment's hesitation, he sits up a little straighter. Though it's really nothing to get excited over.]

[Then again, this is John we're talking about. His posture isn't the best to begin with.]

[[That towel? Wrapped around her shoulders now.]]

[A liiiiitle straighter. Look, he uncrossed his arms too! Aren't you proud of him, Rose?]

[[Actually working on drying herself off now.]]

I think I can see how he may have come to that conclusion.
