Chapter 32; Video/Action for Violet City

[[Today you're greeted with a rare sight. Not only is Rose wet and dressed in a rather cute Dratini themed bikini, but she's outside and wearing a rather smug grin.]]

Dave, I would just like to show you this little gem.

[[And here she holds the Violet City badge up to the camera.]]

I thought I would give you a good week or so to obtain it first, seeing as I was already a badge ahead of you, but this is getting ridiculous. I think I will change my goal of only obtaining useful badges. From here out, I will work towards all of them. We'll make this a competition, how's that sound? A friendly sibling rivalry.

Who can come to possess all eight badges first? Lalonde? Or Strider?

[[Chuckling, she tucks the badge back in her bag, straightening once more.]]

That said, I felt a celebration was in order. And, seeing as it is so warm out, what better way to celebrate than with a little summer party? John, Dave, you are both expected to attend, and I will not take no for an answer. You might want to dress water friendly.

Anyone else in the Violet area is perfectly welcome to come as well.

[[From here, the camera is turned, apparently to show of various attractions as she begins explaining everything.]]

We're equipped with Insufferable Prick, resident sprinkler system. The newest addition to my team, Haze, can offer plenty of cooler temperatures being an Ice Pokemon. Halos is more than willing to fetch you snacks or beverages if you'd like.

[Aaand sitting back up so that he can pull the towel off and hand it to her. And then he's just...going to try and make himself look as small and unnoticeable as possible. Please don't stare at him, Rose. He feels very exposed right now. The fact that you are his girlfriend and he's a little on the pudgy side (Gosh darn baby-fat! Weren't you supposed to go away when John stopped being a baby?) only makes that worse.]

[[John, do you not see the pudge on her? She has baby fat too you know. But she happily accepts it and begins drying her hair. Nice and slow, because she might like to take a few glances every now and then.]]

[But see the difference is, Rose. You're pretty. John isn't. If he minded the fact that you're not model thin (which he doesn't. Not by any stretch of the imagination. You're perfect just the way you are to him.) the rest of you more than makes up for it. John, on the other hand...]

[Normally he would stick to "pretty" or "beautiful." But he just couldn't pass on that play of words.]

[If you can't see the bright red tinge on his cheeks, then you are blinder than Sollux, Rose. He's just going to sit there and feel a little stupid now. He shouldn't have said anything.]

[[And now she feels bad. So she's going to sit there a moment before glancing away.]]

You know John, perhaps I should offer this towel back to you and allow you to hide once more.

[Confidence levels dropping at an even faster rate now. Yes, having the towel back would be great, Rose. That way he can put it over his head and pretend that he doesn't exist. And at the same time, you can pretend that you don't have a totally lame boyfriend.]

[[While she offers it to him, she won't quite let go, trying her best to put on a charming smile.]]

Surely there have been more than a few passer-bys of the female variety who have eyed you, and I am slowly finding myself rather jealous.

[That's fine. Even though he takes a corner of it in hand when it's offered, he makes no effort to actually take it from her. He's too busy trying to figure out if he heard her right. Hopefully she doesn't mind the blank stare she gets for a good half a second. That blank look is followed by a somewhat forced laugh.]
