As I see it is that time again in Johto, I would like to make a general "Welcome to the magical world of Pokemon" statement to all new comers. I'm Rose, and if I have not personally introduced myself yet, my apologies.

I would just like to offer my knowledge to you all, especially those of you who are breeders. I'm no expert, but I have gathered many notes over my time here and I always want to share this knowledge.

For those of you with no interest in that, I do still want to talk to you! About what, you ask? Just you.

Ah yes. The combination of Rapidash with the heat can't be comfortable. I've heard their flames don't burn as hot for those they're fond of. I'm not certain this is true or not, but it's something to consider at least. Where are you traveling to?

You've caught me in a good enough mood.
What you need to do right now is look at the map included in your back pack.
You should be heading out on Route 29 towards Cherrygrove.
Once there, ask for a map of the forest outside, so you don't get lost. That place can be awful to traverse through.
Head to Violet after that. You can either then go north to the shortcut leading to Goldenrod or south towards Azalea.
Why would you want to go to Azalea? To collect gym badges. The first is in Violet.
Why would you want to do that instead of use the shortcut? Because I am sure there are plenty of people in Goldenrod who would enjoy giving you a punch to the face once you arrive, as you were quite the asshole before.

As to why you would complicate things, you were in a relationship with Karkat before, and now you don't remember.
That might make things terribly awkward.

Oh. Well sometimes you're able to tell by looking at them. Take Meganium for instance. Meganium have antennae on their head. The antennae on a male are longer than the ones on a female. Female Pikachu have notched tails.

For those that don't have a physical difference like that, your Pokegear should be able to tell you.

Some, however, are genderless. Like Porygon or Golett.

I don't think it's necessarily completely your fault for such a thing. Being such good friends with Dave, I'm sure she's just excited to finally get to spend time with him. I wish I was from further along, so I would know the situation better, but...

Have you ever tried to calmly ask for a talk with her? Even with Dave and...the Mayor around, a calm request typically will give you the chance to approach things like this.

Once he warms up to you, hopefully his flames won't be so hot. And oh? Luckily the Sudowoodo initially blocking the path seems to have moved on, so such a detour certainly isn't a bad idea. Plan on visiting the department store?

My Pokedex informs me of that with Pokemon I own. And I don't believe Swablu does. I could be wrong though, as I've only ever had experience with a female.

It would make traveling much more bearable, yes. At the very least, they seem to have some sort of property that prevents them from actually harming me.

On the contrary. Knowing better is exactly why I am suggesting it. Because it is something you should try.

That, as far as I have observed, is based on relationship as well. A Rapidash is just as capable of burning a person they dislike as they are of not harming those they don't mind.

For quite a while, the Sudowoodo blocked the shortcut. If you didn't have a Wailmer Pail to water them with, you wouldn't be able to pass.
